Advances and difficulties of telemedicine as a tool for access to health services in Colombia

Abstract
According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2010), the improvement in the quality of life and health of the human being is due to projects such as e-health, cyber health and many others. In Colombia, telemedicine is defined as the provision of remote health services in the components of promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, by health professionals who use information and communication technologies, which allow them to exchange data with the purpose of facilitating access and opportunity in the provision of services to the population that has limitations in supply, access to services or both in its geographical area. The objective of the article is to identify how telemedicine has evolved in Colombia and what are the difficulties that currently arise. for that topic. In Colombia, it has had important advances, promoted from the academic, technological and organizational aspects, however there are still different barriers that must be minimized to make telemedicine a new way of providing health services.
