Tele-education as a professional training strategy: developing courses in distance learning for indigenous health in the brazilian northeast.

Abstract
Objective: The Telehealth Implantation Project in Indigenous Health defined as one of its goal the development of courses in the distance modality targeting the Multidisciplinary Teams of Indigenous Health - EMSI, and thus collaborate with the training of these professionals aiming at improving the quality of care to the indigenous population. Method: During the First Workshop on Sensitization of Telehealth for Indigenous Health in the Northeast, held on May 12 and 13, 2015, the themes were chosen based on the epidemiological profile of the indigenous population and on definitions of meetings with indigenous health. Results: Five multidisciplinary courses in distance learning (EAD, in portuguese) were developed by a multidisciplinary team with the following subjects: Mental Health, Introductory to Indigenous Health, Child Dermatology, Exanthematous Diseases in Childhood and Care for Pregnant Women and Indigenous Newborns. These courses sought to effectively meet the doubts of health professionals in indigenous areas, and thus, minimize the transfer to large centers. Conclusions:The courses have directly contributed to the training of health professionals working in indigenous health, enabling the improvement of the care of the indigenous population, and benefiting thousands of users in access to quality care.
